From the streets of Sydney to the stages of Europe, Gem is not just a musician, he’s a phenomenon in motion. At just 20 years old, Gem is the embodiment of what it means to defy odds, reshape expectations, and set a new standard for artistic resilience and reinvention. This year, he takes home the prestigious Rising Star award at the Influencer Magazine Awards 2025.
A self-taught artist since the age of 3, Gem fuses the soul of classic rock with orchestral grandeur, drawing influence from Pink Floyd, Elton John, and Hans Zimmer. His genre-bending sound blends progressive rock, symphonic piano epics, and experimental layers into performances that feel cinematic, electrifying, and emotionally raw. Whether harmonising strings or soaring through a solo, Gem holds his audience in awe, not just with sound, but with storytelling.
But Gem’s story isn’t just about music, it’s about survival. In 2022, he found himself homeless at 17. With nothing but his passion to guide him, he started performing at open mics across Sydney. Eight months later, he landed his first major gig at the PACT Theatre, playing to 300 people. That breakthrough marked the beginning of a meteoric rise.
Since then, Gem has performed in over 50 venues, won four City of Sydney awards, completed his first tour, and made an international debut in London, with audiences in the UK left speechless by his talent and authenticity. His flamboyant stage presence, signature outfits, and bold sound experiments make every performance a spectacle. From ambient ballads to energetic anthems, Gem is constantly redefining what it means to be an artist in today’s music landscape.
Offstage, his heart beats for advocacy. As a youth ambassador and motivational speaker, he has worked closely with Youth Off The Streets, Uniting, The Salvation Army, and YMCA, raising funds, awareness, and spirits. Both his music and voice has helped double fundraising goals and amplified the voices of vulnerable youth, earning him national attention from Australia’s largest youth music charity The Push, a YOTS scholarship, recognition as a semi-finalist in the 7 News Young Achiever Awards and winner of Young Citizen of the Year. Gem isn’t just a rising star, he’s igniting a movement. Congratulations to Gem on this well-deserved nomination!
